The Authority continues to intensify its market monitoring efforts to track the movement of goods and services and ensure that suppliers comply with applicable laws and regulations. This comes within its vital role in enhancing market stability and safeguarding consumer rights, in line with Oman Vision 2040 goals of building a fair and well-regulated market that promotes transparency and competitiveness. During the recent period, the Authority carried out a series of comprehensive and systematic inspection campaigns targeting various commercial activities. This comes amid rapid economic changes that require intensified field monitoring and enhanced rapid response mechanisms to address practices that may disrupt market balance or harm consumer rights. The intensive campaigns conducted from early March to mid-April resulted in recording more than 500 violations, including 172 related to price increases, mainly in the fruits and vegetables sector. These violations were concentrated in high-activity governorates, with Muscat recording the highest number (79 violations), followed by South Al Batinah, North Al Sharqiyah, and North Al Batinah, while other governorates recorded fewer cases. Accordingly, the Authority took the necessary legal actions against violators, while also strengthening partnerships with relevant entities to ensure market balance and continuous availability of goods. In the same context, the Authority implemented an intensive field monitoring program for the central “Silal” fruits and vegetables market. This included tracking product inflow, analyzing pricing mechanisms based on supply and demand, and verifying compliance with approved regulations. The findings indicated overall stability in product availability, with prices influenced by seasonal and supply factors, while violations by some suppliers were immediately addressed in accordance with legal procedures. The Authority affirms its commitment to continuously developing its regulatory tools and enhancing monitoring and analysis systems to improve proactive intervention, reduce violations, and promote a safe and stable consumer environment that supports sustainable development in Oman and strengthens the national economy.
