The consumer Protection Authority (CPA) in Muscat Governorate reached an amicable agreement with a shipping and export office and gave the consumer back OMR 10,805. This aligns with CPA’s initiatives to constructively handle consumer reports and concerns.
Summary of the complaint: A consumer complained to the Authority that, despite their agreement to supply goods from outside Oman in exchange for the full service amount OMR 1,5696, the shipping and export office had not committed to providing the service in accordance with their agreement. The office only delivered a portion of the goods to the consumer and breached the agreement by failing to fulfil the service. The consumer then complained to CPA, which promptly took the appropriate action.
After contacting the parties to the complaint and investigating it, they expressed their willingness to reach an agreement. It was agreed that the office would return OMR 10,805 to the consumer and deduct OMR 4,891 for the service provided.
CPA urges suppliers to comply with consumer protection laws and regulations and to fulfill their requirements and obligations, as this preserves the rights of consumers when providing them with products and service.
