Wednesday 24 July 2024

As part of the Authority's efforts to recover and preserve consumers' rights, the Consumer Protection Authority Department in Sharqiyah South Governorate managed to come to a settlement between a consumer and one of the commercial companies specialized in the blacksmithing sector and the installation of umbrellas, and to recover an amount of OMR 1000. The details of the recovery in brief: The customer complained to CPA, claiming that he had paid OMR 1,000 in advance to the company for the installation of umbrellas inside his home. When the company finished the service, it was discovered that the umbrellas had flaws. This indicates that the company violated their agreement, and the customer demanded that the company fix the issues. The company, however, did not address the allegation. After he submitted his complaint with CPA, the latter handled the matter appropriately, contacted the parties, and mediated an amicable settlement. The consumer received his OMR 1,000 advance payment refunded upon the termination of their arrangement. The Consumer Protection Authority calls on suppliers to abide by all applicable laws pertaining to consumer protection, fulfil their obligations and requirements, and protect customers' rights whenever they provide goods or services.
