The Directorate General of Consumer Protection in North Al Batinah Governorate participated in
the activities of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026, which was
held under the patronage of His Excellency the Governor of North Al Batinah, with the
participation of a number of government and private entities and institutions concerned with
community awareness.
The Directorate’s participation was represented through an awareness booth dedicated to
highlighting the dangers of electronic cigarettes and their health, social, and economic effects
on consumers. The Directorate provided a range of awareness and guidance materials aimed at
raising awareness among various segments of society, in addition to introducing the efforts of
the Consumer Protection Authority and its awareness programs aimed at protecting consumers
and promoting public health.
Visitors to the exhibition were introduced to the contents of the awareness booth, which
included educational publications and printed materials, as well as explanations provided by
specialists regarding the harms associated with the use of electronic cigarettes and the
importance of concerted institutional and community efforts to curb their spread, particularly
among young people, thereby contributing to the promotion of a culture of prevention and
healthy behaviors.
The Directorate General of Consumer Protection in North Al Batinah Governorate affirmed that
its participation in this event stems from its social responsibility and its commitment to
supporting national initiatives aimed at enhancing community awareness and building a
healthier and safer society through promoting a culture of prevention, raising awareness of
sound consumer practices, and reducing behaviors that may affect the health and safety of
consumers.
