The Directorate General of Consumer Protection in North Al Batinah Governorate, in cooperation with
the North Al Batinah Governor’s Office, participated in the activities of the 2026 summer program, “Our
Summer: Entrepreneurship and Creativity,” which targets young students from various wilayats across
the governorate. This participation comes as part of its efforts to enhance consumer awareness and
instill the concepts of safe and informed shopping among young people.
The Directorate’s participation commenced through the implementation of its first activity entitled “The
Little World of Creativity,” which featured a variety of purposeful educational and interactive activities.
Among the most prominent was a grocery store simulation workshop, during which participants
engaged in a realistic shopping experience that simulated a market environment. Through this
experience, they learned about consumer rights, methods of selecting appropriate products, reading
expiry dates, and distinguishing between genuine and counterfeit goods, thereby promoting the concept
of smart shopping and reinforcing sound consumer behavior.
The program also included an awareness exhibition highlighting key consumer rights and
responsibilities, as well as introducing prohibited and non-compliant products. In addition, an
entertainment art corner enabled participants to express their ideas and creativity through drawing and
coloring in an inspiring educational environment that combined learning with enjoyment.
This event forms part of a series of summer programs and activities implemented by the Directorate
during the summer of 2026 in cooperation with the North Al Batinah Governor’s Office. The initiatives
aim to promote consumer culture among various segments of society, enhance awareness among young
people, and empower them to adopt informed and safe consumer behaviors, in line with the objectives
of Oman Vision 2040 in building an aware, responsible society capable of keeping pace with the
requirements of sustainable development.
