Consumer Protection Administration in the Wilayat of Barka Follows Up on the Status of the Vegetable and Fruit Market

As part of its ongoing efforts to monitor markets and enhance their stability, the Consumer Protection Administration in South Al Batinah Governorate, Wilayat of Barka, participated in a meeting dedicated to discussing the status of the vegetable and fruit market and ways to enhance its stability. The meeting was held in coordination with the relevant authorities and with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Omani Agricultural Association, and the Central Market Team for Vegetables and Fruits (Silal). The meeting reviewed the market situation and emphasized the continued availability of products, in addition to discussing joint efforts aimed at strengthening compliance with the applicable laws and regulations, thereby contributing to the establishment of a stable commercial environment that safeguards consumer rights and supports the smooth flow of trade. During the meeting, Hilal bin Hamood Al Jabri, Director of the Administration, emphasized the importance of intensifying coordination and cooperation among the various relevant entities, and strengthening supervisory and field efforts in a way that supports market discipline and raises the level of compliance with the applicable procedures. At the conclusion of the meeting, a field visit was conducted to observe buying and selling activity, monitor product availability, and ensure compliance with the regulatory procedures in place. This comes as part of ongoing efforts aimed at enhancing market efficiency and supporting the food security system, thereby strengthening confidence in the market, contributing to the stability of commercial activity, and providing a safe and stable consumer environment, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
