The Consumer Protection Authority’s nationwide system across the Sultanate’s governorates and wilayats continues its monitoring and field efforts to ensure market stability, enhance compliance with regulatory laws, and follow up on suppliers’ adherence to providing goods and services in accordance with approved standards. Inspection campaigns have been intensified in markets and commercial centers following the end of the Masarats low-pressure weather system, with the aim of ensuring market stability and monitoring the availability of essential and consumer goods.
The monitoring teams focus on verifying supplier compliance with declared prices, preventing exploitation of the recent weather conditions through unjustified price increases or monopolistic practices, and ensuring the integrity of supply chains so that essential consumer needs remain uninterrupted.
The Authority continues to coordinate with relevant government entities to review any observations or impacts resulting from the weather condition, while strengthening monitoring efforts in locations that witnessed heightened purchasing activity during the previous period. Consumer Protection also commends the awareness and cooperation of consumers in reporting violations, reaffirming the importance of supplier commitment to the regulations governing the commercial sector and the necessity of avoiding any practices aimed at achieving unlawful gains during exceptional circumstances.
The Consumer Protection Authority confirms that its monitoring and awareness efforts will continue in a manner that supports market stability and safeguards consumer rights, in alignment with Oman Vision 2040, which aims to establish a fair, transparent, and sustainable economic environment that enhances community well-being and ensures a high quality of life in all circumstances.
