Trading and Use of Expired Materials “Consumer Protection” in North Al Sharqiyah Seizes a Beauty Salon

Thursday 19 March 2026

The Department of Consumer Protection in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, represented by Judicial Officers, managed to seize a beauty salon that was trading and using spoiled and expired materials. The details of the seizure date back to the monitoring and inspection activities carried out by the Judicial Officers at the Department, during which (55) boxes of expired hair dye were found, with an expiry date of 7/7/2025, in one of the salons, being used on customers, including (16) boxes that had already been used. Upon questioning the receptionist, she stated that the seized materials were being mixed for customers and that she was aware that the products were expired, and she had informed the salon owner who was also aware of that. Immediately upon seizing those materials, the Judicial Officer took legal action against the violating salon by issuing a violation report and withdrawing the seized quantity due to the harm they pose to the health and safety of consumers. After completion of the violation file, it was referred to the Public Prosecution, which referred it to the Court of First Instance in Ibra, which ruled to convict the two defendants, impose financial fines, confiscate all seized items, and obligate them to pay the criminal expenses. The Department calls upon all beauty salon owners to comply with the Authority’s decisions regarding the use of various cosmetic materials and to ensure monitoring of product expiry dates. The Consumer Protection Authority also urges commercial establishments to comply with the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law and its Executive Regulations, and not to display or sell any expired goods. It also calls on consumers to verify the expiry dates of goods before purchasing them to avoid any harm or risks that may result from their use.
