The Directorate of Consumer Protection in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, in cooperation with the Directorate General of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in Nizwa, recently conducted field visits to a number of livestock and vegetable selling locations. These visits were carried out within the framework of the Authority’s regulatory efforts ahead of Eid Al-Fitr, with the aim of monitoring market activity and ensuring the availability of essential goods and food commodities that witness increased demand during this period.
The visits focused on monitoring the availability of food commodities and products in the markets, particularly those that experience increased demand during the Eid period. They also included verifying the compliance of traders and suppliers with the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law and its Executive Regulations, as well as with the decisions regulating livestock sales.
The inspection teams also monitored the extent to which suppliers and traders adhered to the specified prices and observed any unlawful commercial practices that might affect market stability or harm consumer rights. In addition, guidance and awareness were provided to traders and suppliers regarding compliance with the laws and regulations governing markets.
These efforts come within the framework of the Authority’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with relevant entities in order to support a well-regulated and safe market environment, ensure the quality of services provided to consumers, enhance market stability, and guarantee the availability of essential goods to meet consumers’ needs during the Eid Al-Fitr season.
