The Consumer Protection Authority in Al Wusta Governorate, in cooperation with the Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in the Governorate, carried out an inspection campaign targeting a number of markets and commercial establishments. This initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen market oversight and ensure the availability of essential goods for consumers.
The campaign aimed to verify the availability of essential goods and products in the markets and to monitor suppliers’ compliance with the laws, regulations, and decisions governing commercial activities, thereby contributing to the protection of consumer rights and the enhancement of market stability.
During the campaign, the inspection team visited several shops and commercial centers. The team ensured that prices displayed on goods were clear and consistent with the announced prices, in addition to monitoring the quality of the products offered and their suitability for consumption and confirming the absence of any unlawful commercial practices that may harm consumers.
A number of suppliers were also provided with guidance on the importance of complying with the applicable regulations and adhering to the conditions governing sales processes and commercial offers, to ensure fairness and transparency in commercial transactions within the markets.
This campaign forms part of the continuous efforts undertaken by the Consumer Protection Authority to strengthen field monitoring of markets and ensure the availability of goods and the stability of prices. These efforts contribute to establishing a safe and stable consumer environment and support the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to build a sustainable and competitive economy while enhancing the protection of consumer rights.
