The Consumer Protection Department in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate held a joint meeting at the Office of the Wali of Masirah, attended by His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdullah Abdulwali Baawain, Wali of Masirah, along with a number of officials. This meeting was held within the framework of the Authority’s efforts to strengthen the principles of partnership and institutional integration with government entities, thereby enhancing joint action in support of achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
During the meeting, the key efforts, achievements, and statistical indicators for the year 2025 were reviewed. These focused on strengthening market oversight, ensuring service providers’ compliance with the applicable laws and regulations, monitoring price movements, and detecting any commercial practices that may negatively affect consumers’ rights. The meeting also reviewed indicators and statistics related to reports and complaints received from consumers, as well as the measures taken by the Directorate to address them, including inspection campaigns and legal decisions that contributed to protecting consumers and restoring their rights. In addition, joint programs implemented in cooperation with government and private entities were highlighted, which have contributed to supporting the market environment and improving the level of services provided to consumers.
This meeting comes as part of the Authority’s keenness to enhance partnership and integration with government and private entities across the Wilayats, and to highlight the achievements accomplished, in a manner that ensures the continued protection of consumers’ rights, safeguards their interests, and achieves a fair and safe market environment.
