Destruction of Over Two Thousand Items in Violation of the Consumer Protection Law in Al-Buraimi

The Consumer Protection Department in Al-Buraimi Governorate, in coordination with the Oman Environmental Holding Company (Bee'ah), recently destroyed a number of seized items of smokeless chewing tobacco that violated Decision No. (256/2015) and its amendments. The total amount was (2,300) bags, each weighing (100) grams, with a total of 230,000 grams. These items were destroyed after completing the necessary procedures. The destroyed materials are prohibited for trade due to the health risks they pose to consumers. The Authority diligently monitors and oversees the markets to control and seize all unauthorized goods, and immediately takes legal action against violators. The Authority urges consumers to report any violations they may observe through the various communication channels available.
