Tuesday 18 February 2025

The General Directorate of Consumer Protection at North Al Batinah Governate, represented by the Consumer Protection Office in the Wilayat of Al Suwaiq, conducted a "joint preventive campaign" in collaboration with the General Directorate of Health Services in North Al Batinah. The campaign targeted herbal products and cosmetic stores, resulting in the seizure of 180 violating items. This campaign aligns with the authority’s objectives to safeguard consumer health, ensure commercial establishments comply with the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations, and enforce Decision No. (254/2015) regulating herbal product trading. Measures were taken to prevent the circulation of any products that might pose health risks to consumers. The campaign also aims to curb malpractices by service providers, ensure that goods are stored under proper health conditions, and educate shoppers about their fundamental rights and obligations. Additionally, it seeks to raise awareness of key considerations when dealing with providers, reinforcing transparency and fairness in consumer transactions and contributing to a safe consumer environment. Such joint campaigns are part of the authority’s efforts to monitor providers’ compliance with laws and regulations governing commercial activities, detect any practices that may harm consumer rights, and combat commercial fraud by raising public awareness of their rights as stipulated in the Omani Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations.
