The Consumer Protection Authority in the Muscat Governorate, represented by the Complaints Division, managed to mediate an amicable settlement between a consumer and one of the constructions, building materials, and decoration companies, resulting in a refund of 2,217 OMR.
Details of the case indicate that the Complaints Division received a complaint from a consumer against the construction and decoration company. The complaint stated that the consumer had agreed with the company to purchase house stone in accordance with specific specifications and a set delivery date, with the agreement that the stone would be exported to Kuwait after the full purchase amount had been paid. However, the company failed to fulfill its commitment to provide the stone and delayed the process.
The consumer then directly approached the Complaints Division, which, following the standard procedures, summoned the concerned parties and discussed the details of the complaint. Consequently, an amicable settlement was reached between both parties, which involved the cancellation of the contract and a refund of OMR 2,217 to the consumer.
This resolution underscores the Authority's commitment to its role in protecting consumer rights and addressing non-compliance with the laws and regulations established by the Consumer Protection Authority.
