The Consumer Protection Authority in the Muscat Governorate, represented by the
Complaints Department, managed to mediate an amicable settlement between a consumer
and a company specializing in contracting, building materials, and interior works. The
settlement involved compensating the consumer with an amount of 7,000 Omani Rials.
The details indicate that the Complaints Department at the Authority received a complaint
from a consumer against a contracting company regarding an agreement to build a house.
After a while, the company stopped work and failed to complete the construction within the
agreed timeframe. Furthermore, the work quality did not meet the required specifications.
Upon inspecting the construction work, the consumer found defects in the building. The
consumer contacted the company, and they agreed to fix the defects. However, the company
did not take action. Based on standard procedures, the concerned parties were summoned,
and the complaint was discussed. An amicable settlement was reached, whereby the
consumer was compensated with 7,000 Omani Rials to cover the cost of fixing the defects in
the house.
These settlements reaffirm the Consumer Protection Authority's commitment to safeguarding
consumer rights and addressing violations of the laws and regulations governing consumer
protection.
