The General Directorate for Consumer Protection in North Al Batinah Governorate succeeded in reaching an amicable settlement between a consumer and one of the car agencies. This was part of the efforts made to restore consumer rights and preserve them through all available means in cases of violations.
The details of the refund are summarized as follows: the Directorate received a complaint from a consumer regarding the purchase of a vehicle from one of the car agencies. The consumer had paid a deposit of 1,000 Omani Riyals and agreed on specific vehicle specifications and a delivery date. However, when the delivery time came, the agency failed to fulfill its commitment and did not deliver the vehicle, delaying the process unnecessarily. This prompted the consumer to file a complaint with the Directorate, which immediately took the necessary measures and summoned a representative of the agency to discuss the complaint. As a result, both parties reached an amicable settlement in which the consumer was refunded the full amount paid.
The Directorate emphasizes to all suppliers that it will spare no effort in intensifying efforts to safeguard all rights guaranteed under the law. It also urges consumers to report any violations they notice in the market through the various communication channels. Additionally, the Consumer Protection Authority calls on everyone to comply with the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law and its implementing regulations.
