The Directorate General of Consumer Protection Authority (DGCPA) office in North Al Batinah Governorate, Wilayat Al Suwaiq concluded a settlement between a motor agency and a consumer. After technical issues were found in the truck within the first ten days of the purchase date, the consumer was reimbursed OMR 8,560.
The DGCPA office in Wilayat Al Suwaiq received a complaint from a consumer that he had purchased a new truck from one of the car agencies in Al Suwaiq. However, when using it, he discovered that there was a defect that caused the truck to stop while driving.
A consumer complained to the DGCPA office in Wilayat Al Suwaiq that he had bought a new truck from one of the car agencies in Al Suwaiq. But when he used it, he found that the vehicle had a defect that made it stop while it was moving. Then, he complained to the agency, but they ignored his request to fix the problem. As soon as DGCPA office got the complaint, it started to investigate it and calling the parties involved.
Accordingly, an amicable settlement was reached between the parties to end the purchase agreement, with the agency repaying the money paid to the consumer and receiving the truck back. The complainant agreed to this since it would put an end to the damage he had suffered.
CPA urges suppliers to comply with existing consumer protection legislation and to meet the requirements and commitments stipulated for them to protect consumers' rights.
