His Excellency Sulayem biun Ali bin Sulayem Al Hakmani, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority, visited Musandam Governorate, and met with His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Hum Al Mayasi, Wali of Dibba, and His Excellency Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Shehhi, member of the Shura Council and representative of Dibba, in addition to a number of members of the Municipal Council, Vice Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Musandam, and a number of officials.
The visit schedule included a meeting with His Excellency Sheikh Wali Dibba to discuss the most important topics related to consumer protection, and the integrated role of CPA with various consumer-related institutions to achieve the vision system. The meeting reviewed the efforts exerted in monitoring and inspecting markets and monitoring observations and proposals, and the reality of the markets of Musandam Governorate.
His Excellency Al-Hakmani conducted a field tour of the markets in the Wilayat of Dibba, visiting several specialized shops across various sectors and commercial centers. The purpose of the tour was to assess the extent of suppliers' adherence to the Consumer Protection Law, its executive regulations, and related decisions. The visit also included verifying the availability of price lists, services, and addressing consumer observations. CPA staff actively investigated these observations during the tour to ensure compliance and resolve any discrepancies.
On the sidelines of the visit, His Excellency engaged with consumers, listening to their comments and suggestions regarding CPA's work. He also met with suppliers, urging them to comply with existing laws, regulations, and systems. Al-Hakmani emphasized the critical role suppliers play in consumer protection and encouraged them to maintain cooperative relationships with the CPA.
This visit forms part of a broader series of field visits to governorates and wilayats, aimed at fostering collaboration with community institutions and strengthening ties with the consumer community. It also provided an opportunity for CPA leadership to evaluate the operational mechanisms within its departments in various governorates and assess the ongoing efforts to monitor and regulate markets effectively.
