Recall of more than 1,000 Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia for the risk of sharp metal fragments while deploying air bag

Monday 16 December 2024

The Consumer Protection Authority, in cooperation with Oman Trading Establishment (OTE), launched a recall campaign for 1097 Chevrolet vehicles, including 453 Traverse vehicles model 2014-2017, and 644 GMC Acadia vehicles model model 2014-2016. To verify the chassis numbers, consumers can refer to CPA's electronic portal (recall.pacp.gov.om). This recall is because the driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to a manufacturing defect. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death. The company will replace the driver's air bag module with the affected vehicles. This recall campaign underscores the CPA's unwavering commitment to traffic safety and its collaborative efforts with key stakeholders in the automotive industry. It aligns with the CPA's ongoing commitment to conducting comprehensive evaluations of products available in the markets of the Sultanate of Oman to ensure consumer protection across all sectors.
