For the possibility of a fire in the engine while driving, more than 7,000 Kia vehicles 2010-2017 were recalled

Thursday 12 December 2024

The Consumer Protection Authority ( CPA) in collaboration with , Saud Bahwan Automotive Group LLC has launched a recall campaign for 7662 Kia Cerato, Sorento, Optima vehicles 2010-2015 and Kerato 2016-2017. To check chassis numbers of the affected vehicles , consumers can refer to the CPA website (recall.pacp.gov.om). This recall comes because some vehicles have a short circuit in the electronic control unit of the engine. This leads to high resistance to electric current and increases the risk of fire in the engine while driving or parking. A warning signal appears to check the engine. Therefore, the company will check the affected vehicles and replace the fuse assembly of the electronic control unit (ECU) . This recall campaign underscores the CPA's unwavering commitment to traffic safety and its collaborative efforts with key stakeholders in the automotive industry. It aligns with the CPA's ongoing commitment to conducting comprehensive evaluations of products available in the markets of the Sultanate of Oman to ensure consumer protection across all sectors.
