As part of its ongoing efforts across various governorates to safeguard consumer rights and ensure adherence to contractual agreements, the Directorate General of Consumer Protection in North Batinah Governorate successfully facilitated an amicable settlement between a consumer and an establishment specializing in carpentry, blacksmithing, and aluminum works. This resolution led to the recovery of OMR 575 for the consumer.
The case originated from a complaint filed by a consumer stating that he had contracted the establishment to install doors for his house for OMR 575. The agreement included a 10-year warranty, but defects began to appear during the warranty period, suggesting that the work did not meet the agreed-upon specifications. After filing the complaint, the Directorate conducted an investigation and facilitated a settlement whereby the contract was terminated, and the consumer was refunded the full amount paid.
The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) urges suppliers to strictly comply with consumer protection laws and regulations, fulfill their contractual obligations, and ensure thorough inspection of goods and services before delivering them to consumers. This ensures the rights of consumers are upheld and helps avoid legal accountability.
