His Excellency Sulayem bin Ali bin Sulayem Al Hakmani, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA), and His Excellency Eng. Yaqoub bin Khalfan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources for Fisheries, jointly visited the Central Wholesale Fish Market. This visit was part of an ongoing collaborative effort to evaluate market operations, ensure consumer interests are safeguarded, and enhance service quality.
During the visit, the delegation reviewed the market's facilities, including its divisions and the process of electronic bidding. They confirmed the availability of goods in adequate quantities to meet consumer needs and engaged directly with both consumers and suppliers on-site. The suppliers were urged to work in alignment with the CPA to protect consumer interests, uphold fairness, and deliver high-quality services while safeguarding consumer rights.
Additionally, His Excellency Al Hakmani visited the Central Laboratory for Plant Health and Food Safety. The visit focused on understanding the laboratory’s mechanisms for conducting essential tests, such as biological and biomechanical analyses, which play a pivotal role in ensuring food safety and maintaining product quality for consumers.
This visit is part of a series of field visits initiated by the CPA Chairman. The aim is to strengthen field-level monitoring efforts, assess the current state of markets and commercial centers across the Sultanate, and promote improved service delivery to consumers through closer collaboration with suppliers.
