The Consumer Protection Department in Al Dakhiliya Governorate recently facilitated an amicable settlement between a consumer and a commercial establishment in the vehicle spare parts sector, demonstrating the administration's commitment to safeguarding consumer rights.
The case arose when a customer lodged a complaint with the department, stating that he had purchased a used vehicle from the establishment for OMR 950. After receiving the vehicle, he discovered it did not meet the specifications agreed upon in the contract. Despite his request to return the vehicle and obtain a refund, the establishment delayed, refusing to comply. Upon receiving the complaint, the Consumer Protection Department took swift action to mediate, leading to a satisfactorily settlement for both parties. The contract was terminated, the vehicle was returned, and the consumer was refunded the full amount of OMR 950.
The Consumer Protection Authority reminds suppliers of their obligation to comply with consumer protection laws, ensuring that they meet the legal requirements when providing goods or services, thereby safeguarding consumer rights and promoting trust in the marketplace.
