The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) participated in the "Virtual Reality... for a Conscious Consumer" event of the Oman Science Festival 2024, organized by the Ministry of Education from November 4 to 11 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center. A number of government and private institutions in the Sultanate of Oman will participate in the event. The CPA's participation comes as part of its awareness efforts to enhance the knowledge of consumers and providers of all consumer and legal aspects. CPA offers a number of events including a cyber awareness session to promote consumer awareness. It also organizes a virtual exhibition via VR technology to identify counterfeit goods, demonstrate the danger of their use on members of society, and introduce the consumer to how to differentiate between them and the original goods. CPA also showcased samples of counterfeit goods and provided a virtual grocery store that gives small consumers a virtual shopping experience and helps them shop properly. CPA also provides awareness information and cultural competitions that enhance legal and consumer knowledge. It is noteworthy that CPA's participation comes in a bid to strengthen the partnership between it and various government and private agencies and institutions to spread scientific culture and enhance the creativity and innovation skills of young people and society in general.
