Monday 28 October 2024

The Directorate General of Consumer Protection Authority (DGCPA) in Dhofar Governorate was able to reach an amicable settlement between a consumer and one of the construction establishment in Dhofar and recovered OMR 1770 for the consumer. This comes as part of DGCPA efforts in recovering and preserving the rights of consumers. The specifics of the settlement in summary: DGCPA received a complaint from a consumer who claimed to have contracted with a construction company to paint his house. However, in addition to the existence of several flaws and peeling paint, the institution failed to finish the work in the agreed-upon manner, which led the consumer to file a complaint with DGCPA and demand reimbursement for the aforementioned defects. DGCPA summoned the two parties and took the appropriate action regarding the complaint. They came to an agreeable agreement whereby the establishment reimbursed the consumer for the money they had paid (OMR 1770) and provided recompense for the labor and paint costs. The Consumer Protection Authority urges suppliers to comply with consumer protection laws and regulations and to fulfill their requirements and obligations, as this preserves the rights of consumers when providing them with any good or service.
