Recall of 5 Dodge Durango vehicles and a 2022 Ram truck due to the risk of a sudden crash

Sunday 6 October 2024

The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA), in cooperation with Mohsen Haider Darwish Automotive Company, launched a recall campaign for 5 Dodge Durango (WD) vehicles and one Ram 2500-DJ truck model 2022. To verify the chassis numbers, consumers can refer to the recall page on the CPA's (recall.pacp.gov.om). This recall is due to a critical software malfunction in the ABS control module, which may disable the electronic stability control (ESC) system during vehicle operation. This will cause the ESC to malfunction during vehicle startup and thus malfunction indicator will show up. This may disable the ESC system in certain driving conditions, and this increase the risk of a sudden crash. The company will update the ABS control module software. This recall campaign underscores the CPA's unwavering commitment to traffic safety and its collaborative efforts with key stakeholders in the automotive industry. It aligns with the CPA's ongoing commitment to conducting comprehensive evaluations of products available in the markets of the Sultanate of Oman to ensure consumer protection across all sectors.
