Monday 12 August 2024

The Directorate General of Consumer Protection in North Batinah Governorate successfully facilitated a harmonious resolution between an establishment and a consumer. As part of its ongoing commitment to safeguarding consumer rights, the Directorate orchestrated the return of OMR3535 to the consumer. This accomplishment underscores the Directorate's dedication to preserving consumer interests. The sequence of events unfolded with the Directorate receiving a complaint from a consumer concerning an agreement with an aluminum workshop for the fabrication and installation of windows in his residence. Regrettably, the workshop exhibited delays in executing the service, failing to meet the agreed-upon timeline specified in their contractual arrangement. Subsequently, the consumer escalated the issue to the Directorate, which promptly intervened by initiating legal proceedings. Upon examination of the complaint and the summoning of both parties involved, a mutually agreeable settlement was reached. In accordance with this resolution, the consumer was reimbursed the funds paid to the establishment due to their failure to fulfill the service within the stipulated timeframe, leading to the cancellation of the contractual agreement. The Consumer Protection Authority, through its diverse directorates and departments, reaffirms its unwavering commitment to upholding consumer rights and fulfilling its mandate. It urges suppliers to adhere strictly to prevailing laws, regulations, and protocols governing consumer protection to avert potential legal repercussions. This proactive approach ensures a fair and transparent marketplace while promoting accountability among service providers.
