CPA launches “Edrak” awareness campaign to reach a safe consumer environment for all

Tuesday 23 July 2024

The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) is set to launch its awareness campaign "Edrak" tomorrow, aiming to enhance consumer awareness across different segments of society and improve the legal understanding of suppliers regarding the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations. The campaign's objective is to foster a consumer environment that upholds the principles of safeguarding consumer rights in various commercial transactions. Spanning four weeks, the campaign seeks to empower consumers of all categories with knowledge about their rights and responsibilities during shopping. It aims to raise public awareness about prohibited goods and their dangers, as well as educate the public about commercial fraud, its various forms, and the penalties for those involved. Additionally, the campaign aims to enhance the social responsibility of both suppliers and consumers to create a safe marketplace, while increasing awareness among beneficiaries about the services provided by the Consumer Protection Authority. Throughout the campaign, a range of awareness activities and programs will take place in all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. Knowledge-sharing meetings will be organized for consumers from different backgrounds, and sessions will be conducted with providers and owners of electronic stores to familiarize them with their obligations. The CPA will also actively participate in events organized by various entities, particularly during the summer vacation period. Additionally, the CPA will collaborate with law enforcement officers to directly deliver awareness messages to shop workers. The campaign will be further supported by the dissemination of awareness messages through various advertising channels, including street displays and social media platforms.
