The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) temporarily closed a establishment for kitchen sale and installation in Muscat as per a Public Prosecution decision due to recurring complaints and failure to deliver the services on the agreed-upon deadlines, and to make refunds to the affected consumers.
The closure was due to the repeated complaints received by the Complaints
Department at CPA’s General Secretariat against an establishment for kitchen sale and installation. The said establishment entered into contracts with several consumers in order to sell and fix kitchen cabinets that meet certain specifications within an agreed
period. However, it failed to meet these specifications. Moreover, there were frequent delays in delivering the services to the consumers on the agreed-upon deadlines and it failed to make refunds to them. Due to failure to respond to CPA and recurring complaints, CPA initiated legal proceedings and referred the matter to the Public Prosecution, which issued decision to temporarily close the establishment until the cases filed against it are settled.
