A joint inspection team, consisting of staff from the Consumer Protection Authority and the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Water Resources, visited Salal Market located in Khazaen Economic City in the Wilayat of Barka, South Al Batinah Governorate. This visit was part of a series of joint inspections conducted by the Authority in collaboration with various government entities in the Sultanate of Oman.
The visit aimed to ensure that suppliers comply with regulatory laws, detect violations, and examine the availability of goods in the market, their prices, and their suitability for consumers.
The significance of these ongoing visits stems from the fact that Salal Market serves as a national and international platform for the trade of vegetables and fruits in Oman, as well as a marketing outlet for locally produced agricultural products by farming companies and Omani farmers. Additionally, the daily trading volume in Salal Market exceeds 5,000 tons of local and imported vegetables and fruits.
