The Consumer Protection Authority, represented by the Innovation and Development Department,
in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology,
represented by the Directorate General of Digital Transformation and Sector Enablement, organized
a workshop on Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in the training hall at the Authority's
headquarters. The workshop targeted administrative employees across various divisions of the
Authority.
The workshop, presented by Yusra bint Saif Al-Maamari, Head of the Innovative Solutions
Department at the Directorate, aimed to familiarize participants with the role of emerging
technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Robotic Process
Automation in driving digital innovation. These technologies are considered the primary drivers of
digital transformation. The workshop covered the concept and importance of process automation,
showcased the tools and techniques used in automation, provided practical examples of automation
applications, and enabled participants to understand how to apply automation in their work.
Additionally, the workshop discussed the benefits of Robotic Process Automation, such as increased
productivity, time and cost savings, and quality improvement. It also highlighted the major
challenges institutions may face when implementing automation, such as high initial costs and the
need to change institutional culture, and how to overcome these challenges.
It is worth noting that this workshop is part of the programs organized by the Innovation and
Development Department in collaboration with governmental and private institutions to leverage
their scientific and practical expertise in technical and institutional innovation. The goal is to
enhance the innovation environment within the Authority and improve work efficiency and quality.
