The Primary Court in Al-Mudhaibi issued a judicial ruling against a company specializing in
vehicle repair for violating the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations. The
verdict included a conviction and a fine of 1,000 Omani Rials, suspended on the condition
that the vehicle is returned without defects.
The case began when the Consumer Protection Department in North Sharqiyah Governorate,
Al-Mudhaibi, received a complaint from a consumer alleging improper repair of his vehicle.
The consumer reported repeated malfunctions in his vehicle shortly after repairs by the
company, leading him to file a complaint. The department initiated necessary procedures,
including appointing a technical expert who confirmed in their report that the company had
not conducted the repairs properly. The report highlighted that the company failed to explain
the correct use of the transmission for this type of vehicle and identified a hidden electrical
issue in the dashboard screen.
The case was referred to the Public Prosecution, which investigated and transferred the case
to the competent court. The court ruled the company guilty of "failing to repair, replace, or
refund" and fined it 2,000 Omani Rials, with the penalty suspended if the vehicle was
returned to its proper condition without defects, as per the warranty and the expert report,
within one month. Additionally, the company was ordered to bear all costs.
The Consumer Protection Authority calls on all traders and suppliers to adhere to the
provisions of the Consumer Protection Law, its executive regulations, and related decisions.
