CPA Chairman conducts field tour to the markets of Dhofar Governorate and meets with the Governor of Dhofar

His Excellency Salim bin Ali bin Salim Al Hakmani, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA), recently embarked on a visit to Dhofar Governorate, where he met with His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. This visit was part of a series of strategic field visits aimed at strengthening the CPA’s outreach efforts and fostering deeper collaboration with the local consumer community. The initiative also seeks to evaluate ongoing efforts in market oversight, ensure compliance with consumer protection standards, and elevate the overall performance and service quality of the CPA> During the meeting, His Excellency Al Hakmani and His Highness the Governor engaged in discussions centered on key consumer protection issues, with a focus on the CPA’s pivotal role in safeguarding consumer rights. The dialogue extended to reviewing the comprehensive measures in place for market monitoring and inspection, identifying emerging market trends, and exploring strategies to enhance joint efforts aimed at bolstering the quality-of-service delivery and regulatory enforcement. Al Hakmani further demonstrated his commitment to transparency and accountability through an extensive tour of Dhofar’s markets. His visit included several commercial establishments across different sectors, as well as notable market hubs in Thumrait and Salalah. The primary goal of this tour was to ensure that suppliers adhered to the legal frameworks established by the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations. Additionally, the tour emphasized the critical role of unified contract terms, verification of service and price transparency, and the importance of fostering a fair business environment that benefits both consumers and providers. Throughout the tour, His Excellency actively engaged with consumers, receiving their feedback, complaints, and suggestions, which were promptly reviewed by CPA staff. On the sidelines of the visit, Al Hakmani also met with local suppliers, urging them to uphold their obligations under the law and stressing the need for continuous cooperation with the CPA. He emphasized that responsible business practices and compliance with regulatory standards are essential for fostering trust and ensuring the protection of consumer interests.
